"A living room with a laboratory" is how Pavé defines itself. Located in Milan near Porta Venezia, this bakery and pastry shop has a lot of people talking.

And on the seventh day, God created bread” is just one of Pavè’s irreverent, yet alluring slogans, this one in particular greets guests from one of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Via Felice Casati. Others such as “Bread or Death” or “Butter is good for the soul” adorn the merchandise and walls of this cleverly satisfying pasticceria.

Take a cappuccino and brioche 160—named for its weight in grams, 100 of which belong to apricot marmalade—for breakfast, or proper lunch from the kitchen available between 12pm to 3pm. Or drop in for an afternoon snack or early evening aperitivo. All confections are baked in the on-premise open laboratory, which adds to the space’s cozy and inviting ambiance. During Christmastime, Pavé is home to one of Milan’s best panettone.
